Kicked out of School

November 17th, 2011

I am failing all of my classes this semester and it is very frustrating because I’ve been studying very hard. My teacher told me that if I do not improve my grades within the next week or 2 that they will probably have to kick me out of school for good. This is a very scary thought because I consider myself quite an academic person and I identify with my education quite a bit. And although I recognize that my grades could be better, I do not know what I’m going to do to drastically alter them within the next week or 2. I am very nervous and it is scary because when I am nervous my grades usually slip even more.

The reason I have trouble concentrating when I am nervous is because I like to surf the Internet in order to reduce my stress levels. Usually I look for funny quotes online because funny quotations make me forget about the problems that I have if only for a moment. The only issue with these funny quotes is that they distract me from my necessary schoolwork and continue a cycle of poor performance in and out of class. My mom thinks that I’ve been developing a dependence on the Internet and I can’t say that I disagree with her at this juncture. I have been finding that my Internet usage has absolutely been affecting my social life in a negative way and in addition to that my best friend Joe stopped talking to me last week because I slandered him publicly on an Internet forum we both visit regularly.

Obviously I have quite a few problems in my life right now that stem from my poor performance in school. I’m upset because my bad grades in turn lead to my Internet up session which in turn leads to my friends abandoning me because of my poor to world online. I’m sure there is a solution but at this point I am not quite sure what it is.

I asked my dad to come over this afternoon so we could talk about my problems but he responded that he would not be able to make it until this evening. That is okay with me as long as he actually shows up. My dad is a professor at the university I attended I’m hoping to request that he puts in a good word with my teachers. I know that this kind of nepotism isn’t often smiled upon at prestigious universities such as mine but I do not feel that I have another viable option. As they say, desperate times call for desperate measures. And if I cannot shake my desperate need to search for funny quotes online and the resultant decline of my grade point average, I must then rely on nepotism.
